DIY Mixed Media Infinity Scarf

Hello my Mixed Media Mavens & DIY Divas!


Today's project share is one of my favorites to date.  If you're like me I have tons of old T-Shirts that I wear around the house or to bed that are on the last stages of life..lol. But I had a light bulb moment and decided to upcylce my shirts and create infinity scarves out of them.

I do have a lot of patterned t-shirts but I wanted to try my hand at creating one that I could wear for spring. So I decided to use the Tulip Fabric Sprays~ Neon Party Pack. You all know how much I love vibrant colors so the neon was hands down my first choice.

I absolutely love the way that it turned out!  Lucky for yall I did a tutorial on how to create a one of a kind infinity scarf using an old tshirt!

Mixed Media Canvas~ Mo Hair

Hello Crafty Divas!

Here is a very textured piece of art I created for a friend of mine who is a very talented, and fashionable hairstylist.

As you can tell by the caption I titled this piece "Mo Hair"... I can see the question marks above your heads (wink). So here is the scoop: the phrase mo hair comes from primarily minority beauty shops. There is a saying that when you get your hair done, or for my southern folks 'hair did'..lol instead of saying "thank you" to the beautician you say "mo hair" so that your hair will grow long and healthy.

To get the highlights in her hair I used Art Anthology's sorbet paint in the color Sand Dune.. love it

I absolutely love the way this painting turned out, and my friend loved it as well. Here are some detailed photos:

Madame Ro Weekend Recap

Hello Crafty friends. This post will be short and sweet. I just would like to give you all a recap of what I created in my art lab this weekend.

I wanted to participate in the Shimmerz color challenge this month, so I created a very dimensional, textured, and colorful layout. I wanted it to be unique so I used a paper mache heart to use as a frame. ( I will put a photo of my son and I in it). I have a tutorial on how I created the color textured background. ( I will have to upload it on a later date, I'm having technical difficulties with my editing software at the moment..lol). The secret to that beautiful texture is... you ready for it!?.. tissue paper (wink). here are a few close ups

My mother watched my son on Saturday so I had the whole day to myself. (loved every minute of it.) this is what I created during my "mommy time".

The symbol on this shirt is an Asian symbol that stands for Double Happiness. And lastly I would like to share an inspirational mixed media canvas I created that says "Believe in Yourself"

Dream In Americana Colors: "Create" Mixed Media Painting

Hello Mixed Media Fanatics,

I have a colorful project to share with you all, featuring DecoArt's Americana Acrylic Paints (florescent line).

A couple of weeks ago I was feeling super inspired by the fluorescent colored acyclic paints I had just purchased from Michaels. As soon as the bambino went to sleep I sprinted to my art lab and made a big, huge florescent mess all over my art journal page...lol Here is what I created:

Vintage Glam Bling Bouquet

Hola my crafty divas!

I am super ecstatic to share my Zeus & Zoe DT project with you all. I've been eying those beautiful brooch bouquets on Pinterest and I put it on my "to make one day" list. So when a bride to be contacted me asking if I could make her a bling bouquet I was over the moon. I FINALLY get to try it out. I used 4 synthetic roses and then the rest of the flowers were handmade by yours truly. I added lots of pearl and bling accents, then to top it all off I added some feathers. Here is the final result.

AfroDisiac~ Mixed Media Abstract

Hello my crafty divas!

I am super excited to share with you my latest installment of my "Naturalista Series". Being a naturalista myself, I have an obsession with big wild hair~ the bigger the better lol.  So I have decided to create a series of mixed media abstract paintings dedicated  to big wild hair.

This painting is my third installment, to view my second installment check out my Length Check blog post.
This one is my favorite because this is almost a portrait of how my hair usually looks.  I created this on a 16x20 stretched canvas (my canvas sizes are gradually getting bigger and bigger, one day I will  get to the ginormous canvases..lol)  I used lots of different mediums to create movement and texture, and of course (my staple) vibrant colors.

Negative Stenciling with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos

Hola all my mixed media mavens!

Today I would like to talk with you about one of my favorite "go-to" mediums by Faber-Castell Design Memory Crafts. Yep you guessed it! ~Gelatos

I love the versatility that the Gelatos offer, you can blend them like an oil pastel, use them like a watercolor, or add some light tints by misting them. Its a whole lot of mixed media mediums all rolled in to one delicious stick! There are so many things you can do with them, the possibilities are endless. I love them so much I decided to create a little demo/tutorial to share with you how I like to use Gelatos, and teach you a little technique I call Negative Stenciling.

As you all know I am more of a Vlogger than a Blogger so the tutorial will be done via video footage on my YouTube Channel. I also included a bonus process video showing how I created this lovely mixed media tag using the negative stenciling technique. Happy viewing!
